My Students

I teach 4 year old students in a rural South Carolina school. We are a Title One school with 93% of students receiving free or reduced lunch. My school was featured on South Carolina's ETV's "Corridor of Shame". We need help for our students.

My students come from low-income families.

They are very interested in learning. I am trying to teach them more about eating right and exercising. I am concerned about their health because of the increasing number of over-weight children. I want my students to learn about exercise and to have a positive self-image. While learning and playing, they can form bonds with other classmates.

My Project

Some of my students do not enjoy playing outside, especially when the weather is too hot or too cold. We need a variety of exercises for them to keep moving and build friendships while learning social skills. Many of my students like TV. I would then to see TV as a means of exercise, not just a place to sit and watch.

We do not have a gym to play in on cold, hot or rainy days.

The Wii will enable us to play inside every day. Our preschool teachers are responsible for all of our students' physical activities. We need something new and fresh that will also teach our children about technology.
