Our parish was the only parish that was 100% devastated from Hurricane Katrina. All of its science materials and science trade books were ruined in the flood waters.
I am requesting funding for hands-on science materials and trade books on life science. Students will use these materials to learn about topics such as animal adaptations, the food pyramid, the digestive system, the respiratory system, and life cycles.
These materials will help the students grasp specific concepts using a hands-on approach. They will also be able to read about life science topics for enjoyment, to further explore the concepts, and as informational resources for reports.
This project will benefit the 49 students in my class this year and future fourth grade students in St. Bernard Parish. The cost of these books and supplies is $858, including shipping and fulfillment Ms. Y.'s Classroom:
