My Students: The class would like to take a photo of each student. They would then create a collage featuring the career that each student wishes to pursue with their photo being the center of the collage. They would like to hang these collages in the foyer of the gym so that parents will see them at graduation.

Our school is a low income school located in a poverty stricken area of our city. Our students are often isolated to the neighborhood surrounding the school with many of them never getting to leave the area. We have students who have never been to a mall, never been on a vacation and who's families have never experienced the joys of having a high school graduate let along a college and career minded student. These students are in survival mode, they are forced to focus on their daily survival rather than their hopes and dreams for the future.

My Project: By receiving a digital camera as well as scrapbooking paper and supplies we will be able to create a project that our students will be proud to hang in their homes. Without the supplies we have requested we would not be able to create this project which may prove as inspiration for these students to stay in school and keep working toward the goals of the collage.

Our project is important because it allows students to express their hopes for the future as well as giving them a focal point as they leave the realm of elementary school and start the second leg of their educational journey, middle school. hide»
