This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

“Music in the soul can be heard by the universe," Lao Tzu, the famous philosopher states, reflecting our students and their untapped potential.

Our sixth grade students lead with distinction, and are fueled by creativity, teamwork and technology.

In this fast paced world, where technology is our means to communicate, our students are looking for a creative outlet to express their higher level thinking skills. We are a Title 1 school with more than 60% of our students are on free or reduced lunch. With limited computer resources at home, our school’s technology is their main source to having their ideas, and voices be heard.

My Project

With these USB microphones, the possibilities are endless. Students will be able to turn their essays into podcasts, book reports into radio commercials, and poetry into musical lyrics. For our English language learning students, what better way to practice reading intonation by personally recording their voices when reading their own narrative stories and writing. These microphones will help outfit our classroom computers, changing our EMacs into a center for our students’ voices to be heard.

Help our sixth graders communicate their ideas, share their individuality, and turn their written words into living, breathing, pieces of work that others can hear and learn from.

A donation to this project will make sure that every students is heard, from the class leaders, to the quiet and insecure kids who sit in the back row. Give our students a reason to speak, and realize that their voices do matter and can make a difference.
