My Students

BEAM ME UP SCOTTY! Yes, those were the favorite words spoken by Captain Kirk on Star Trek! Well, in my class, I want my students to say, "BOOK ME UP SCOTTY!" Yes, I want books to be what lifts these kids up into the universe! You can truly transport anywhere with books!

And, TRANSPORT my students do!

Each and every day they do such amazing learning! They love to read, read, read and READ! They are so creative and so excited about life! I feel so lucky to get to be around their energy and excitement each day! We take learning journeys each day, and because of them, my life is OUT OF THIS WORLD!

My Project

Now, you may be wondering what all of this space talk has to do with my classroom. Well, I love to teach in themes! It helps my students make connections to their lives and other subject areas. We have an upcoming unit called "Mysteries of Earth and Mars," and we just don't have the books to go with the unit.

I really hope you will consider funding this project!

It would mean so much to us! I know that with class sets of the "Mars" books, we will be able to do great reading, literature circles, book talk, writing and more. Plus, we will learn all about Mars, and who knows, one of my students may just be the one that creates our first human community there! So, please "Book Us Up Scott!"
