Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Spring is arriving in North Texas, and my students and I would like to take our learning outdoors!

My students are in fifth grade, and they are avid readers.

We have a lot of fun discovering and sharing new books with each other. Inside the classroom we like to play soft music, choose pillows and blankets, and read in utmost comfort. When the sun comes shining in the window, however, we would rather be enjoying our literary explorations outside!

My Project

I would like to request a portable whiteboard with a basket, markers, and clipboards so that lessons can be conducted outside and class observations can take place efficiently. I would also like to request portable speakers to enhance the outside experience with soft music while we read. We can also utilize the speakers for background during choral readings, such as when practicing Reader's Theater plays.

This project is important to me because in students need to be given opportunities to discover that learning can take place anywhere.

I have also discovered that students who would normally daydream and stare out the window are more engaged when the lessons occur outside, and they tend to learn better in a different environment.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
