My Students

It is a teacher’s dream to be able to engage all students, give every child immediate feedback, and get 100% participation from all students. Turning Technologies has created a product that allows teachers to do exactly that.

I teach 5th grade in Virginia.

Our International Neighborhood School attracts wonderful culturally diverse families, making for a truly unique and special elementary school. In general, our families are from the local neighborhood as long-time residents. In addition many families are stationed here for military purposes, serve in one of the embassies, work in diplomatic or political careers, come for university study, international exchange work and study, or have recently immigrated to the U.S.

My Project

The turning point response cards that I am requesting through this grant allow me to give each child a response device (think who wants to be a millionaire – ask the audience) that students may use to click in answers to questions. When students answer the given question, a graph appears that displays what percentage of the class picked each answer. While the graph is anonymous, the teacher can track how many students responded to the question and keep a record of who answered which questions correctly. When given the opportunity to use this exciting software, students are engaged and motivated to do their best. Also, they immediately see if their answer was correct or incorrect.

This grant will provide my class with a set (32) of wireless response cards and the necessary USB connectors and software.
