My Students

Do you remember the first time you were asked to write a story? Did you dread writing because it was hard to put the thoughts from your head into written form? Many of my students experience this feeling every time I ask them to write, but they can tell great stories!

I teach 20 third grade students from varied ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.

They are enthusiastic about learning and want to succeed in all academic areas. Many of my students struggle with writing. They can tell a story verbally, but get confused when writing the words. By the time they are finished, the story doesn't make sense and they become frustrated. I help them edit the story, but often they give up!

My Project

By offering micro cassette recorders to my students, they will be able to talk into the recorder and tell their stories first. Using the headphones, they can transcribe the words of the story. This would enable each student, regardless of academic level to experience success in writing and build their self confidence as writers. Once they view themselves as writers, they are indeed writers!

Please help me develop a love of writing for my students!

I am confident that using these recorders will make writing fun and exciting for my kids. Your donation will help inspire these young authors to continue writing!
