My Students

Teaching Freshman 1st Aid can also teach them about empathy. A skill that many Freshman need to learn. You can help me do this by aiding me to be well prepared and attention grabbing – with ranges of resources and equipment so I can hit the ground running and engage students from the beginning.

I am teaching over 200 Freshman in a inner city school in CA.

70% of the students receive some sort of aid. 60% do not speak English at home. The skills the students will learn when they complete this project are not only preparing my students for the future, but also helping them gain skills that are immediately useful in their lives today. The knowledge they gain from first aid and the Chain of Survival can help them saves lives today. Please help my students learn how to gain empathy and help others.

My Project

Many of these students hear Gun Shots at night and have family and friends who have been shot and do not know what to do. I would like to have the proper equipment to teach them basic CPR and 1st aid. In doing so I can also teach them about empathy and how to care for and help others. Our School is also very close to two major Earth quake faults. I am teaching them Basic Health and this year I am adding a unit on The Red Cross Chain of Survival which will teach the students a sequence of actions that maximize the victims change of survival. Help me teach these students how to save a life and in doing so teach them the value of a human life.

This project can teach inner city high school Freshman the skills they would need to save a life if someone is choking, injured, unconscious, bitten, poisoned, or shot.

Teaching these skills will also put an importance on saving lives and the value of a human life. Teaching 1st aid and CPR can help students gain empathy for others. Every year in the USA 350,000 people die of sudden Heart attacks. Many of these people could be saved if someone around them administered CPR.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
