My Students

Can you remember when you were struggling with a math problem and needed some help? What did you do? Who did you turn to? Well students today are challenged with this concern every day and with a netbook they can work in small groups and in the math center and get help via the Internet.

My students have a learning disability which requires them them to need hands on or visual learning tools.

They learn better in small groups or one on one learning sessions. They are eager to learn new things everyday. Our school is in a district where funds are not always available for the extra things and special education is usually last on the list of areas to be supported. As a special education teacher i feel that my students deserve the best of everything and the privilege to experience other learning techniques through technology.

My Project

Having this mini netbook in our class, my students can enhance their mathematical skills via the Internet research tools. The mini netbook will help them to be able to research their math challenges and go to the website associated with the textbook for a virtual demonstration of the lesson that they are working on. My students will learn how to find the answers to their many mathematical questions and concerns. With this netbook we can place it in the math center and allow the students go in small groups and work together to reach a solution to the math problems that they have a concern with.

This mini laptop is important to my students with special needs to gain knowledge that they need to build up their math skills.

The students will be able to work in small groups and the math center, and use the Internet to research the information that they will need. Since our textbook is online they will be able to access the online tutoring website and work at a pace that will help them to gain the knowledge to become better math students.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
