This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What was your favorite activity in elementary school? For many of my students, it's visiting the computer lab. Your help the excitement I see they get from technology into the classroom on a daily basis.

I teach a primary elementary (grades 1-3) special education class in a school of about 350 students.

My class has 12 wonderful students with highly individualized needs. Because of the diversity in grade level and ability, we cover a lot of different materials in the classroom. All instruction happens in small groups. One common love my students have is technology. When we visit the computer lab, I see their faces light up with the joy of learning thanks to the engaging nature of technology for children.

My Project

With the projector and cart, I'll be able to create vivid and engaging multimedia presentations for students. My vision is to create a multimedia whiteboard as described at http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/johnny_lee_demos_wii_remote_hacks.html. The software is free and can be downloaded to any computer. I will be supplying the Wii remote and electronic components necessary. In class, the projector will shine a path to achievement through captivating presentations of math and reading topics that can be somewhat boring.

This project will make sure that students receive the highest quality, most engaging instruction possible.

Ultimately, students will achieve more through capacity to reach more modalities of learning, increased engagement, and increased interactivity.
