Mrs. Hill's classroom raised $221

And the Winner is . . . My Students!!!!!

My students need the 13 Colorado Children's Book Award nominees, so they can vote for the winner next spring and therefore be winners themselves!

My Students

When the student's get the chance to pick a winner of an award, their interest in these books sky rocket. Anything a teacher can do to get the students interested in reading is a great thing. My students are more likely to pick up a book that they get to vote on than just another book.

I have the best students in the WORLD!!

The challenges that are facing my students is that the budget has been cut. I can no longer buy as many books as I used to. I think that have as many different types of books is important. Not one book will satisfy the needs of all of my students. I try and get as many different kinds of books as I can.

My Project

The resources that I am requesting are the 2011 Colorado Children's Book award nominees. Schools nominate the books and the Colorado Council International Reading Association reviews the books. They then compile the list of nominees. Children from all over Colorado must read at least three of the nominated books to vote. The book with the most votes receives the Colorado Children's Book Award. Many great books are on this list and the students really enjoy reading them!!

By donating to this project, you will help me to keep my students reading books.

These books are all quality books and students will enjoy reading them. When schools' budgets are cut, it really is the students who suffer. I am trying to prevent my students from suffering by the budget shortfall. I believe that getting kids to love reading is the greatest gift I can give them. Donating to this project will help me accomplish that.
