My students need a digital flip video camera to create short films and music videos to enhance their literature studies and prepare them for careers in communications.

My Students

Students in my small, low income, rural school lack a public library. They also lack a cable TV station's public access center where they could utilize video production equipment. Due to budget constraints, our school's technology budget has been drastically reduced.

Though my students lack financial resources, they do not lack passion.

My students are avid consumers and ambitious producers of visual media. They have the desire to create professional quality media, but are limited by the accessibility of technology in our school's location.

My Project

This year, my students created a secondary school newspaper from scratch. Next year, they hope to expand their efforts. Their work could include online media, including short films or recorded interviews. They could also begin to record and broadcast the morning announcements online.

Obtaining a video camera would allow students to achieve their aspirations.

It would also enable them to expand their portfolios so that they may confidently enter the competitive job market.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
