My Students

Budget cuts have cut lab experiences to almost nothing. We have committed to offering AP Biology next year to better prepare our students for college, but the budget has cut the funds to pay for the laboratory equipment required for the course.

Our school is a small, but very successful school.

We have become the "Choice" school for our district. Nearly 80% of our graduating seniors will move on to some sort of higher education. They are curious, hard-working, and very bright. Because we have such motivated students, we have added two AP science classes to our curriculum for next year.

My Project

Students in AP Biology will participate in a very rigorous course that includes 12 required labs and an additional 15 labs. These students will then take the required exam that determines how much college credit they will receive the course. Students that receive college credit are then able to start their college experience better prepared and often with 4 or more hours of college credit. This saves time and money in the long run.

College is becoming more and more expensive.

Our students often feel overwhelmed because they have not had the rigorous course work to prepare them. AP Biology is a wonderful preparatory course and will have a tremendous impact on student success in college and in life.
