My Students

Our music program has many students who dream of careers in the music industry. But they have difficulties with grasping the finer concepts of music theory. Our students are a digital generation who learn best through technology, but the technology available to our program is currently very limited.

Our students are about 50% African-American and about 50% on free or reduced-price lunch.

Many have parents who have never attended college, or who even lack high school diplomas. Our school has a strong band and choral music program, however, and many students wish to continue their studies in these fields and build careers in them if they can find the means to do so.

My Project

These computers will make it possible for students to use software called "Print Music 2010" to practice composition, and to record and mix music. They will be able to write songs and express themselves more effectively. This software better prepares them to work in the real world of music industry.

Many of our student aspire to careers in music.

Our local university has a strong program in music in general, but especially in music industry studies. Your generous donation will make it possible for students to succeed in preparing themselves for college as they acquire skills needed for working in the music industry in the 21st century.
