Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Record, learn, explore and review. My students enjoy presenting and collaborating. Yet, we don't have the technology needed to be able to capture the group work, and the explorations. Technology provides many areas for learning and what better place than to learn from our own experiences.

My classroom portable is packed with 19 3rd grade students.

They are eager to learn and are always wanting to share their thoughts and their learning. Our school has PK-5th grades, with 1000+ students,and is located in the suburbs. There are many natural areas around our campus for students to extend their learning. Science is awaiting outdoors and with a camcorder they can record and take it back to the classroom for further discussions and learning.

My Project

A Flip recorder will provide so much learning for my students. Not only will they learn by using this tool but they will gain the knowledge of "how" to operate a recorder. There is so much we can do with a Flip recorder in our classroom. We can record reading, reader's theater, small group work, activities outside, science exploration, interviewing around campus, caught making good choices, and presentations. The recording will provide a rich learning lesson because it is relevant to the students. They have a connection to the recordings and therefore it will heighten their interest. There will always be that question of "What do we film next" or "Next time we can do.." The excitement in learning will be evident!

A Flip recorder is a valuable tool for the classroom and can provide relevant, meaningful learning experiences for my students.

They will be able to watch each other, share and conduct discussions from the recordings. They will make learning connections to the curriculum by doing and recording. Most of all this will provide my students with an opportunity to feel pride and take ownership in their learning.
