My Students

Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? My students need books that capture their imaginations.

My students both love and hate reading.

They are in need of a book that will inspire them to be strong individuals and encourage them to be good people. This book could do that. They are currently learning about historical fiction and this book fits that standard.

My Project

Mare's War is a historical fiction memoir that tells of an African American girl that joins the war in 1944. It tells of her struggles both good and bad about what it was like during the war. Students will get a feel for war during this novel.

This project is important because it exposes the students to multicultural literature as well as literature that contains historical content.

It is important that students be exposed to this novel.
