My Students

I want you to remember how it felt when you had your own bedroom or home. Imagine my students having their own permanent mailbox and cubbie of their own. A space that only belongs to them. Having this storage bin will give my students a sense of ownership and responsibility.

I work in a large, poor urban district.

I teach preschoolers who are coming to school for the first time. My sixteen four and five year olds are from various races and some speak limited English. Some of their parents are immigrants. Most of my families are living below the poverty level.

My Project

Children need a sense of security and when they have a place they can call their own this happens. I tell my children always that we are a family at school. Families take on responsibilities for the care and cleanliness of their room. If you donate to our project and let us get this storage bin you will be instilling in my children these values. We want children to feel that they belong. In giving this storage bin to care for their belongs, they will feel the sense that they are a part of this room and belong. Future students will also feel your love with the purchase of this unit.

When you work for a large, poor urban district, you do not receive the niceties of life for your students.

We are fortunate to have this organization helping us provide our students with hope that people do care. As a small child, I remember when I had my first bedroom and bed. I want my students to feel that same sense of wonderment. Please give them the chance to feel the sense of responsibility and the sense that they are a vital part of our classroom and belong.
