My Students

Do you remember what it was like to travel around the country with your family and visit America's national parks? The sites you saw, the memories you have. My students do not have this opportunity.

I am a middle school Social Studies teacher in New York.

I teach 160+ students every day. Our school serves almost 2,000 students, more than most suburban districts. We are a very diverse population: 10% African America, 34% Hispanic or Latino, 52% Asian or Pacific Islanders and 4% white. We are a high needs community in which 100% of our population receive free lunch. Most of my students are visual learners as I teach 2 CTT classes. If I had a HP mini laptop I could travel the national parks and introduce my students to America's rich history. Whether it be Gettysburg or Mt. Rushmore.

My Project

A HP mini laptop would create a natural curiosity in my students to one day venture out and enjoy this great land we live in. I can show them living history as opposed to history in a textbook. They would know there is more to this great land than a crowded hot city. I would introduce them to the sacrifices our ancestors made so they can enjoy their freedoms. Many of our students did not have freedoms in their own countries & that is why their parents immigrated here. The learning would be endless and it would encourage life long learning.

Your donation of a HP mini laptop would make it possible for my students to have a virtual learning vacation.

It would address their different learning styles in an abstract way, as well as learning about our rich history.
