This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

With an LCD projector, we will transcend the limitations of poverty! Help us access eye-opening films and enriching on-line resources!

I teach Kindergarten to an incredible group of low-income students.

Though over 90% of the students at our school receive free lunch, they are showing amazing growth and working very hard to learn each day. Last year, our school was excited to hear that we had the largest academic gains in the entire school district. Though we've had a lot of success, we still have a very long way to go to give these students the excellent education that they deserve! In particular, my students lack exposure to enriching real-world experiences. Very few of my students have ever traveled out of state and many have never even left the city! Luckily, today's technology can offer students the next best thing!

My Project

We need an LCD projector to show larger than life videos in class. Through programs like Planet Earth and National Geographic, my students will travel to exotic lands and learn about the outside world. I will also use the projector to bring our everyday lessons to life. Providing visuals is crucial to English language learners and, with an an LCD projector, it will be a snap! Students' families will likewise benefit from this incredible resource, as our school is eager to organize "Family Movie Nights." Parents and siblings will be welcome into my classroom to relax and bond over an educational film.

Can you imagine never seeing the a world beyond your neighborhood?
