My Students

Sh! Be quiet! I can't hear it, either! Having a computer with no external speakers creates difficulty when trying to watch educational video streams.

These are economically disadvantaged students who attend a large public school in the southeastern region of the United States.

They love using the computer and watching videos that extend and enrich the lessons. The kindergarten students are unable to receive this level of enrichment activity at home. In addition, many of these students are not exposed to books at home and, therefore, this creates a disconnect between what I am teaching and their ability to continue practicing phonics and phonemic awareness skills.

My Project

It is difficult to get 19 students and myself huddled around a computer to hear Science and Social Studies video presentations from the Discovery and National Geographic sites. By having the external speakers the students will be able to sit while watching and listening to the videos instead of me stopping the video every few seconds to repeat the narrator's words. Having the phonemic awareness program with multiple activity cards will allow the students to check them out for at-home use.

How exciting it will be for the students to be able to hear the videos as if they were in a theater.

Hearing the students master phonemic awareness skills will bring joy to themselves, the parents, and myself. You can help create an environment of joy and learning, while enabling the students to use the phonemic awareness program to increase assessment scores. Your donation is appreciated!
