My Students

We currently do not have any thing on the floor except for the 70's office style carpet that is in our room.

I am a first year teacher in a high need urban community.

I am a kindergarten teacher at an inner-city school that does not have a library. As a result the only exposure to reading is in our classroom. My classroom is composed of roughly 35% ESL children, and 65% native English speakers. As a result the need to provide high quality trade books to these students is critical. Now is the time to foster the language development through reading for both ESL and native English speakers. I want to provide an amazing learning environment that will inspire my students to become lifelong learners.

My Project

To create this amazing learning environment we need a rug that would provide my students a special place to read. This rug will help to create the nurturing learning environment that will certainly equal success for my Kindergarten emerging readers.
