Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Lunch time should be fun. As the lunch monitor, I want my students to stay out of trouble, but also enjoy their lunch time. Many students are sitting around gossiping and getting into arguments, and sometimes even physical fights. They need to keep busy!

My students live in an inner-city neighborhood.

Many students do not spend time with their school friends outside of school, because they go home after school ... and stay home. Lunch is their only "free time" to spend with their peers. While socializing is important, I think it would benefit them the most to also use their brains.

My Project

I am asking for board games such as Boggle and Scrabble that students can play during lunch. They can still spend time with their friends, while focusing their energy on a positive activity. I've watched students send other students nasty looks from across the lunch room, and a few whispers later, fighting!

This project will keep students busy during lunch.

They will using their brains, instead of looking for trouble. All middle school students need help avoiding gossip and cliques. Please help make lunch safe, fun and a place to also learn!
