My Students

Do you know how challenging it is to survive a day in the life of a child who has difficulty communicating and regulating his or her sensory system? Help us create an environment that meets that child's needs.

I teach in a self-contained, primary, instructional classroom for students with disabilities.

My students have varying disabilities. Many of my students are autistic and have varying sensory needs that require breaks and time to calm and self-regulate.

My Project

The various language activities I have chosen will provide colorful visuals and extra practice with language to assist in communication. The comfy furniture will provide my students the opportunity to find an area in the classroom to relax. Providing an area and an outlet for my students to relax helps to meet their sensory needs. The desk maps will allow my students to work independently in their work stations. These materials will enhance their educational experiences by helping to meet their sensory and communication needs.

In a time of ever-increasing budget cuts, our students seem to suffer the most.

Providing our classroom with these supplies and activities can help to make all the difference in a child's life.
