My Students

Willie Wonka put it best..."So much time, so little to do....STRIKE THAT!" We have so many objectives to cover in our 6th grade science class. When doing the experiments I do not have time for my students to calculate the math problems. We need to get to the "meat" of our science experiments.

I have sixth grade students who are eager to learn and love doing science experiments.

Many of them have great potential in seeking careers in science if they are pushed to their potential. They attend a public school and I have about 27 students in each of my three classes.

My Project

My students do various experiments throughout the year that require calculators. These experiments include some of the following activities: creating a circle graph to determine the biomass of various organisms in a dissected owl pellet, calculating the radius of circle to find the epicenter of an earthquake, calculating the amount of work done by ramps, determining the speed in a race car experiment and how mass effects its velocity, and many more experiments.

This project will enable us to do so many more experiments in class that we do not have the time to complete because of the lengthy math computations.

I currently teach about 80 students each year. These calculators will help many students in years to come.
