My Students

Help my class make nonfiction reading more interesting.

I teach in a Title 1 school outside the gate of a major military base.

Over 75% of my students come from military families and all of which have had a parent deployed this year. With my school being Title 1 over 52% of our population is receiving government assistance for school lunches. My students comprehension is lacking in the area of nonfiction.

My Project

By helping to fund these items, my students both this year and for years to come will be able to have the foundation of nonfiction instilled early in their reading careers. Most nonfiction books that we have in our library are above their levels. These books are designed for our specific grade level and dim down the concepts for easier understanding.

Please help us to enhance our classroom library by adding these nonfiction books.

You will also be helping us to improve our understanding of concepts that may have just flown over our heads before.
