Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In a low-income community, we struggle to get all the resources we need. Rainy days, cold weather, extremely hot months and other problems keep us from exercising and playing games with the students outside all the time. We want to share lots of different ways to exercise with them!

As the PE teacher, I get to see all our 950 students twice per week, not to mention daily at recess.

My school is more than 95% Hispanic students in a low socioeconomic area in Nevada. Many of the students are overweight from poor diets and don't get nearly enough exercise. They love getting out and expressing themselves in PE activities though, and its a safe space for them to relieve stress outside of class.

My Project

The coaches want a notebook computer and speakers so that we can share online resources, videos and other media with our students during PE time. We have old TVs, VCRs and DVD players, but no computers to take advantage of all the useful tools we find on the web. They would have a blast!

Help our kids boogie down!

They love all different types of exercise, and we want to expose them to even more things outside of their culture and community. We are sometimes their only opportunity to exercise all day long and we want to make it as fun, and educational, as possible!
