My Students

Hook into the wireless world!! I teach school at an inter-urban school where most of the students do not have computer internet access at home, much less wireless access to the online world. These students need more exposure to technology's advances, which are necessary for future career success.

My students are like other 5th graders who are fascinated by all things technological.

Most of them would not have enrichment experiences or exposure to new technology, if it were not for their experiences at school. They are willing to try any new things that we get in class, and I want them to be able to do more online research and discovery with educational programs and websites.

My Project

Having a wireless netbook in class will allow my students greater access to online resources. I think that being able to work with a computer anywhere in the classroom or school will inspire them to be more curious and to find out the answers to the wonderings they have as we study different themes. Students will also learn about accessing the internet through a wireless service and will begin using computers more fluidly in their work, which is common and done on a regular basis now in college and in the workforce.

My class received some new books through a donation from Donorschoose and they thought it was so wonderful.

They are learning about giving back to the community, both locally and nationally. They have even thought to bring in books they have at home to share with other students in school!
