Touching The Lives Of Students With iPod Touches!

My students need 6 iPod Touch devices to use in reading and math rotations to enhance their learning in these areas and perhaps reach struggling students in a different way.

My Students

"Dream Big!" We always want our students and children to think big thoughts and dream big dreams, but sometimes it is hard for them to do this when they are young yet already have the weight of the world on their shoulders.

We are a second grade classroom from Texas with many low-income families.

As many of these students enter the classroom, they are below level in their reading and fluency levels as well as mathematical skills. Unfortunately, they lack the motivation required to help them close these gaps between where they are and where they need to be.

My Project

Just imagine being able to reach a child where they need to be met. Just imagine being able to speak their language. Well in this day and age, technology IS the new language of children. They are surrounded by it and want more of it. I know that my students would thrive with the help of Touches in the classroom. They would be utilized in our listening center to allow the students to see models of fluent readers. They could be utilized in math through the use of many down-loadable applications meant to strengthen math skills. They could be used as a classroom data response system in a learning game environment. The awesome thing would be that while they were learning and closing these achievement gaps, they would be having fun and think they were playing games. This is their language and the Touches would reach many students that were otherwise considered unreachable.

Again, just imagine the impact this donation could make on the young lives of struggling students.

Many times if a student is struggling in second grade, they continue to struggle throughout school. However, if we could close that gap now, we could help to ensure a successful school career for them and a brighter future.
