My Students

Have you ever have a hard time understanding what the teacher was teaching? Did you wish she would quit talking and just show you how to do it? Oh yeah and while she's at it make it fun.

My fourth grade class consists of 32 students.

Within the class there is a wide variety of learners, cultures, and ability levels. The greatest need academically in my class is my 11 English Language Learner students (ELL). More specifically, the three Level 1 students that speak very little English. These students are very eager to learn more English skills. Our school is a large school, of approximately 850 students, with a high ELL population.

My Project

My three ELL Fourth grade students will be able to comprehend the core curriculum more comprehensively with the use of individual net books. Using the net books will allow the students to see and touch what they are learning. The net books would enable me to create fun and exciting multimedia lessons to engage these students in learning. These lessons could work on skills such as prior knowledge, scaffolding, and front loading concepts. Not only will the students learn how to use the computer, Internet, and software, but will be able to practice their English skills.

Having daily access to the individual net books, these ELL students will be able to access Web 2.0 tools, use Internet websites, view videos and use a variety of software to bring the curriculum to life.
