Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 5th grade Science for approximately 100 students. I currently serve in a Title I school.

My students have been asking lots of questions lately. So much so, that I don't have time to answer them! They are asking GREAT questions and that is a skill that I hope to foster! Recently, I was reading a book entitled "21st century skills" by Bernie Trilling and Charles Fadel. I was blown away at how much more my students need within the classroom and thinking of ways to help them. A netbook would help to give my students a chance to use technology to answer and take initiative to find solutions to their problems and answers for their questions.

A netbook would help my students curiosity and imagination. It would bring the benefit of accessing and analyzing information that the internet provides. It would also foster collaboration with students within the classroom but also collaboration with other students globally.

Your help will ensure that my students get a chance to practice the skills that are rapidly changing in our society today and that matter most. Students will be able to truly critically think; to apply abstract knowledge to solve a problem-assumptions and facts and view alternative solutions! They would also be able to collaborate with other students who have differences of opinion and work together to find the best solution through a team-based leadership!
