Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

This year I teach 2 groups of 60 students Pre-calculus. Recently, we studied how to use the graphing calculator to find the best fit function of a given set of data. Once students find their best function they can use that function to predict the data in the future.

Not all of my students have their own calculators. During class, they share the calculators but when they are at home and need to do their assignment, they don't have that tool to work. I wish that I had enough calculators to provide one for each of my students.

With calculators, my students can explore the different functions such as linear, exponential, logarithmic or power functions. They can learn to plot the data, graph and observe to see which function is the best function.

This project will provide my students with one of the best experiences that they can use in the future in the areas of finance, banking, mortgage and investment.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
