My Students: Students are limited in using 21st century skills in the classroom. They are our future.

I teach 6th grade ancient civilizations to 187 students who would love to utilize technology, especially a video camera. Our middle school has 1,400 students and no money to purchase a video camera or other necessary equipment. There is a mixture of high achievers, special needs, and low performers in my classes.

My Project: The students would be able to create snap shots of history using the video camera. A lot of the assignments are projects that allow the students to demonstrate their knowledge by using technology. The video camera is a great tool to have the students express who they are as learners, in a creative manner.

A video camera would give additional incentives to students. Learning occurs when students are excited about the topic. Allowing the students to use a video camera on different projects will bring higher level learning in an exciting way. hide»

Dear Jada, Araceli & Justin and Anonymous Donors,

I am so excited that you decided to fund the digital camera. My students will learn about ancient history, connect with our community and create projects, using the digital camera.
The students have an assignment called the "Keeper of the Stories" They interview family or friends and find out stories that have been passed down from generation to generation. The digital camcorder/camera is an excellent tool for this project. Next, they turn the story into a presentation with pictures and other artifacts. I will be able to record the student's presentations. Also, students will be able to create plays, voicethreads, and other engaging projects
I am so fortunate to have amazing donors that are willing to fund items for teachers, more importantly, students. Please give yourself a high five and know that you have contributed to aiding the future of America.
