A New Take On South Carolina History

When I mentioned taping my students so other classes could watch their original skits, they couldn't wait. The problem was that I didn't have a camera! I teach active eighth graders who love to make history come alive through skits and role plays.

Due to recent budget cuts, all available funds are being used for the very basic supplies (and those are slim!) My students learn best when they are actively involved in the learning process. What better way to remember history than to experience it through original skits and role plays. And, of course, it is always nice to have an audience.

If we had a video camera to use in our classroom, I could tape students' performances and immediately show them to another class. I think this would motivate my students to create interesting and informative skits and role plays which would definitely enhance their learning experience!

You can make it possible for my students to become "actors" in the classroom and allow different audiences to view their original performances. This will not only improve comprehension of state standards, but make history come alive.
