My Students: My students come from an economically challenged community. At the beginning of the year we read Number the Stars and they discovered the Holocaust. They checked out every book in the library that pertained to that time period. It was an exciting time in my class

Our school is a Title One school. All of our students receive free lunches. They enjoy reading historical fiction and fantasy. Last year our school's state test scores rated us a successful school. In past years, our students have had issues with the reading portion of the test. Because of the success they had last year, we are working hard to repeat last years results.

My Project: A classroom library, along with encyclopedia set will help my students research topics. When we have to do research for projects, we have to check out a set from the library (that is when another teacher hasn't checked them out). My students will have the opportunity to earn lots of A.R. points.

My students deserve the opportunity to do the best that they can do on our state test. I believe the more you read the better your vocabulary will be. The encyclopedias will allow us to do more class projects. hide»
