Like most teachers I teach the whole range of abilities from students reading three years below grade level to students reading 3 years above grade level. This year they learn about Latin America, South Asia and East Asia. It is the first time for almost all of them to learn about someplace other than the United States. The world is becoming a bigger place for them This year is the year that students learn so much more about the world around them and I love taking them around the world. Because we travel (learn about) so many places and so many things are new this year I would like to provide journals to each student so they can record not only new facts they learn about each culture but their reflections and questions too. Many of my student find it difficult to keep papers in a binder day to day much less keep papers throughout the entire year. So I would like to provide each student a journal to keep in class throughout the school year. If not daily, at least weekly, students would write in their journals factual information about the regions/cultures we are studying. They will draw and glue in any work sheets they want to keep also. In addition, I expect them to write their personal comments about what we are studying. Journals will go home for homework writing but they will stay in school till the end of the school year. Then students can take them home and have a record of the year. Your help will ensure that each of my students has an individual journal to record their experiences, their journey, as we travel around the world this year. hide» My students need 85 journals to record and comment on their thoughts around the world this year. details»
