My students need series books and picture books to extend our lessons which will broaden their understanding of reading strategies and skills taught.

I am a first year special education teacher at a charter school in New York, and I work with struggling and at-risk readers in grades four through six. I work in a high-need community where students are historically under-served and under-privileged.

My school has very limited resources, and I am hoping to build a library that will enable my students to have access to new books and expand their knowledge base. My students are very eager to learn, but unfortunately do not have the necessary resources.

I need chapter books and picture books that will support my instruction and facilitate student learning. Series books like Beverly Cleary's Ramona Quimby and Henry Huggins, Mary Pope Osborne's Magic Tree House, and Paula Danziger's Amber Brown, will allow my students to fully embrace the authors and their characters. Roald Dahl's clever and thought-provoking stories will engage my students and foster a love of learning and reading. Picture books provide a great entry point to teach important life skills and reading strategies.

With your donation, my students will become stronger readers and lifelong learners. I truly believe that my students will be future leaders. With your help, I hope to provide them with the necessary tools that they need to succeed.
