I am in a second grade classroom working in a low socio economic area. There is a need for our students to exercise, develop team building skills, and increase their self esteem.

Currently there is a need at our school for PE. equipment and unique activities to get children to exercise. I want to make each and every child in my classroom feel special and unique on their birthday by providing them with a card, a special birthday crown, a sparkling "cupcake," and a fun activity they will never forget.

My proposal is to celebrate each child's birthday in a unique and creative way by incorporating physical education and team building activities with the parachute. Many times our children get overlooked on their birthdays. I want to make their day special by making them the center of attention through parachute play. This will increase a child’s self esteem and self worth. The team building activities will encourage cooperation and friendship as well as strengthen shoulder, arm, hand muscles, and develop a sense of rhythm.

My proposal will help with three goals I have in the classroom. I want each and every child to feel special on their birthday, encourage the other students in the classroom to work together in celebration and at the same time get some well needed exercise. I hope you can support me in this project.
