My students need 3 rocks and minerals collections and 28 videos and books to further their understanding of the make-up of the Earth, volcanoes, and their effect on our lives.

GEOLOGY ROCKS! That's what my third graders think. They love rocks and want to know everything they can! Coming from high poverty and ELL situations their experiences are very limited.

We are finishing up our rocks and minerals unit and will be sending the curriculum kit back soon. It would be great if the students could look at and explore rocks and minerals longer and at our pace.

Having rock collections, books, and videos, would help in allowing the students to research topics of their choosing and expand the writing and inquiry elements of our curriculum.

You would make it possible for students enthusiasm and interest to build even more with these materials in our classroom. Language skills would be improved as they discussed characteristics of rocks, their research skills would improve as they looked for specific facts, and their writing skills would improve as they journal their observations and thinking. Nurturing learning is a great thing.
