Our classroom is located in a steadily growing community that takes pride in all areas of art. We have the Art Teacher of the year at our school to teach an art lesson each week to our students. We also have a wonderful music teacher who works with our students three times a week. Through these teachers' efforts our students are making huge strides in their learning manifested in our AYP scores.

In my effort to teach students their curriculum I like to incorporate music that help them remember pertinent information. As a result I have hundreds of CD's and cassette tapes that take up shelf space and cause breaks in a lesson to change CD's or cassettes. When CD's contain all the songs for a lesson there are long weekends, breaks, or vacations that require full electrical shut down in the school building that wipes out any programming conveniences a stereo system contains.

There are a variety of wonderful albums that help students learn. With an iPod there will be fast access to those songs without the interruptions of changing CD's or cassette tapes. An iPod along with a microphone will allow the transfer of those albums to one convenient location. It will also allow students to create their own audio book inspiring them to write and follow the writing process. Another convenience that an iPod will provide is keeping certain songs programmed days in advance or over long weekends and vacations when full electrical shut downs are required and enforced in our district.

Your help will make it possible for my students to learn their phonics, math, and social science curriculum with the use of music and the ease of technology.
