I teach in a poor, rural community. Only a few of my students have access to computers with high speed Internet. I want them to have access to the information that they need to grasp the subject even if it is through an old fashioned medium. If we can spark a student's curiosity then I believe that they will keep pursuing an education.

My students face crushing poverty. There a number of my students who do not own a book. Their parent's can't read and because of this they did not grow up in a reading culture.

Access to these new, shiny books will capture their imagination. I have deliberately chosen image-rich books. Even though my students are in high school, they are still attracted to bright, pretty packages.

You can make a huge difference in their perspectives on learning and on the continuing possibilities. My children have seen all the horror that they need to just by turning on the 6 o'clock news. Through your help, they will get to see the beauty in this world as well. Thank you!
