My goal as a French teacher is to give each of my students a variety of ways to appreciate and acquire the French language, the culture of France, as well as the Francophone countries of the world. I would also like to share my love of French, similar to the way my high school French teacher did…way back when. Through your generous donations, I will receive an assortment of classroom supplies so that my students will be able to create hands-on projects that will be helpful to them in their successful acquisition of the French language. These projects will benefit my students later on in their college language courses as they will always remember the memorable projects they produced in Mr. V’s French class. Some of the supplies needed include: chart, construction, and drawing paper, markers, crayons, colored pencils, glue sticks, index cards, and a class set of French picture dictionaries. The most challenging aspect of working in a large, public high school is the serious lack of supplies. There are essentially no supplies and there are only 10 French dictionaries shared amongst 10 French classes. It is always a disappointment to plan fun, creative, and educational projects and knowing you are unable to go through with them because the necessary materials are unavailable. From the requested supplies, I will now be able to plan and carry out many different projects, both individual and group based. These projects will make students more motivated and engaged in the lesson. It will also allow my students to show their creative and artistic ability. A set of French picture dictionaries would act as an extra support for all students, either working on projects or everyday class activities. All in all, I want each of my students to be successful. Students learn and achieve success in their own, different ways. These classroom supplies will help me differentiate instruction so that I am able to reach out to each and every student in my class. Whether students learn the vocabulary by drawing pictures or creating a photo collage, they are still successful! Through the use of these supplies for the many different creative projects, I am preparing my students to continue their study of French in college and possibly consider a study abroad program in France or any Francophone country in the world. Also, through these projects, students will learn other methods of studying that will help them throughout their entire college career.
