Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach fourth grade at school in an impoverished area. I started teaching guitar after school to a few kids and now my program has blown up to serve over 30 students. I have opened two classes before and after school to teach these kids guitar. They love it.

Learning guitar is fun and challenging. Kids break strings all the time and the cost is getting to me. Strings are very expensive at the guitar store. We also have 15 guitars in various parts of the room. A corner stand that holds five would greatly help organize the guitars and make them easier to access.

We need strings and a stand. I'm asking for 15 sets because that should last us through 2011. The stand will be great for organization. Guitars end up falling over when they are not properly stored.

You will be helping the momentum of students learning and loving music. When a guitar string breaks and I have no more strings, that guitar sits there as long as it take me to get to the store to buy more (often a while). That is time that the student could be taking the guitar home and practicing.
