In our state music is a critical needs subject area. Our school is also a critical needs school geographically. My classroom services many different types of learners. Students academic and mental ability can differ greatly in one class. I may have gifted and talented, main stream, and mentally disabled students all in the same class. These supplies will be used at all levels and by all music classes.

Students LOVE technology. Children now a days are very intrigued by things that appear entertaining (video games, computers, ipods, etc.) Technology is an instant attention grabber. Every time we work on computers or with music technology the students are automatically hooked.

These digital recorders would align with MANY of our state and national music standards. Such as: Standard 6 - Listening to, analyzing, and describing music. It would be wonderful if students could record themselves singing and have instant feedback! Standard 7 - Evaluation music and music performances. If students had the ability to listen to a clear, recent recording of themselves they will be able to objectively evaluate themselves. They would also be able to do so in a timely fashion. So often they don't listen to recordings of themselves until after a concert and by then the performance is over and they lack the desire to give meaningful feedback. I have so many students that want to get into the recording business. These recorders would be a great way to introduce them to that industry. A ditigal recorder also allows us to upload everything into the computer. We will easily be able to share our talents with friends, family and community neighbors! Technology in the classroom is being pushed hard right now across the county. Yet, with the economy what it, cutbacks are all around us and expensive technology seems out of reach.

Your support will ensure that our students are getting the most out of their music education. As a teacher I want to expose them to every bit of what music has to offer. Children relate to and understand technology. My goal is that these recorders will motivate, inspire, educate and solidify the importance of music education in their lives
