Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Great readers need a library! I'm a second grade teacher in a rural part of California. I teach in a high poverty area and our classroom really needs a nice library for students to nurture their love of reading.

My students are avid readers, however our classroom is not set up to have a library for them to access whenever they please. Currently I'm working on creating a library area in one corner of their classroom for children to have a quiet spot to read.

Currently we are using plastic rain gutters (yes from Home Depot) attached to the wall to display our books. I have requested a donation of 2 book shelving units to replace the rain gutters =) These shelves are great because they display the front cover of the book versus just the spine.

Your help will make it possible for my students to have the classroom library they deserve. A quiet space for them to get lost in a great book!
