I am a first grade teacher at a title one school. I teach children who come from low income families who do not have many resources readily available to them.

Although our school has a PE department, classroom teachers are limited to what we can use to exercise the children in the classroom or on the playground. On rainy days, we stay inside, and when there are only 4 jump ropes for 15 children, it makes exercising difficult. Not only that but the day after a good rain, the sun can be shining, but the playground is one big mud puddle. The children love to play on the blacktop area, but are limited to any sports equipment.

My students are in need of jump ropes, soft foam balls to play kickball and to throw and catch with. They would also like some soft foam footballs to toss around outside. With these resources, my students will learn to become active students.

With your help, my students will be able to have a fun filled sports and exercise equipment for indoor recess on rainy days. They will be able to have the equipment they need to stay healthy active students. I am hoping to motivate my students to appreciate exercise rather than running to their video games as soon as they return home! You will make it possible for the students to be more active in the classroom.
