Creating A Technology Investigation Center

My seventh grade students live in a very diverse community and come to me with varied experiences. I believe that it is my responsibility to provide them with as many tools as possible so that they can compete in this world of science and technology.

I think that it is very important for students to be invested in their education, and with science this is a necessary component for learning. My classroom is activity-based, where the student is at the center of all experiences. Since they come to me with a variety of life experiences, I need to level the playing field by introducing many broad and encompassing activities.

My solution is to create a "Technology Investigation Center". This will be incorporated into activities throughout the year and includes all areas of Life Science. With this laptop and "Go Link" interface, we can use sensors that we already have and allow the students full access to independent measuring. This project will extend the learning by allowing the students to have firsthand knowledge of Life Science analysis with a wide variation of activities. These activities will include EKG measurements, blood pressure analysis, response time, temperature and many more.

This donation will make it possible for our future citizens to be up-to-date with modern technology and become responsible thinkers for a world that is so technology- and science-based.
