Connecting South American Culture to Inner City Students

My students need 12 colorful books to explore the geography and culture of South America.

Donate to a project that broadens the horizons of inner city students from a high-need community! I teach 3-5th grade Spanish as a second language in an inner city charter school in Illinois. Our curriculum is dedicated to exposing students to Spanish speaking cultures and countries.

My students love to learn about the cultures of other Spanish speaking countries. They were very surprised to learn that Mexico is not the only Spanish speaking country in the world! Unfortunately, we have very few hands-on resources to bring these cultures to life in the classroom.

We need high quality non-fiction texts about South America and Spanish speaking countries that will spark the interest and imagination of students. We will use these books for projects, read-alongs, research, and independent reading activities. The students will have access to these resources at all times.

Your donation, no matter how small, will provide amazing visual and written resources for students who have little exposure to cultures outside of their own neighborhoods. Your donation will make an impact on my students and truly broaden their horizons!
