I am a fourth-grade teacher in a high needs New York City public school. My school is every teacher's dream. The school community is made up of mostly immigrant students, many who speak English as a Second Language. The students motivated and anxious to learn. I work with an amazing staff of teachers and faculty, but we all face one major problem: The building is very old and there is NO gymnasium in the school, which creates many problems. During the winter months and on rainy days, students cannot play outside, and since there is no gym inside to play in, they are forced to sit in the auditorium during recess and watch OLD movies. There is a big screen with a VHS player and a DVD player in the auditorium. The problem is the school has very few, outdated tapes, DVDs, and Cd's for the students and none of which are educational. I think it would be an excellent idea to get some new, educational DVDs for the students in my school to enjoy! The Math & Science DVDs such as Billy Nye the Science Guy and Schoolhouse Rock, will not only make the children laugh but also teach them important math and science skills. These Math and Science DVD's will definitely bring smiles to the faces of all the children in my school. Your generous donation will impact every child in the school now and for years to come.
