Camera for TV Production Class

My students need one Canon video camcorder in order to film a weekly television show for the new Film and Video program.

Our new "Film and Video" classes prepares students interested in Film, Television, Media and Computer Technology to go into these fields in college. I teach Film and Video, Advanced Film and Video, Speech and Television Production at a low-income Title One high school in West Tennessee. This is a new program that was added to the school, but minimal equipment was bought for the program!

Our students are filming current television productions with old cameras that are "loaned" out from the library. Our supplies are very limited, and we are using computers that are 9 years old. My students are very dedicated, and have been fundraising in order to get supplies needed, but film equipment is pricey.

Our film and video department needs basic supplies, such as a camera, microphone, lighting kits, etc. We are operating with limited resources. This benefits not only my class, but the Television show we produce gets shown to the entire student and faculty body. Our coverage of community events will improve, and our coverage of school events will become more in-depth.

Your donations, no matter what amount, will empower my students to realize how important the medium of television can be. You will give my students and the entire student body something to look forward to every week (the TGIF Show) and to realize that you can make a difference with one camera, and a television.
